As the Japanese Empire expanded, the shadow of war gradually loomed over Taiwan in the 1930s. To bolster its military, the Japanese Army recruited indigenous people to form the "Takasago Volunteer Corps," tasked with frontline missions more dangerous and crucial than those undertaken by the Japanese Army.
