Moss is called to a local farm where six sheep have been stolen during the night, the third such instance in the wider area. Moss doesn't have much evidence to go on, but thinks he can put pressure on a local poacher to uncover the truth.

PC Moss Parkin, patrolling Fickley village late at night, notices a shop door left open and investigates - and finds a puzzling burglary.

Parkin is suspicious when a man comes in and confesses to murder - is he being taken for a fool?
