Before his death, Inca Huayna Capac bequeathed the power of the empire to his eldest son, Ninan Cuyuchi, but sadly, Ninan predeceased his father, sparking a civil war for succession between his brothers Huáscar and Atahualpa. While the empire was in turmoil, a group of Spaniards arrived in Tahuantinsuyo seeking gold. They took Atahualpa hostage, who had already defeated his brother Huáscar.
