Synopsis
In 1847, Milan was ruled by the Austrians, commanded by Marshal Radetzky. The Milanese people were exhausted by the lack of freedom, and when an Italian cardinal was appointed to the Milanese curia, they took to the streets in celebration, with no intention of revolt.
