Richard Goulis is a prominent multi-disciplinary and performance artist, actor, director, and a central figure in the Providence, Rhode Island art scene. Goulis arrived in Providence in 1980 and graduated from the Film, Video, and Animation Department at the Rhode Island School of Design. His creative philosophy centers heavily on spontaneity, finding inspiration everywhere, and experimenting with materials. A significant portion of his multimedia art incorporates found or discarded items, which he recontextualizes into loose, poetic narratives.
