Lessandro Sócrates was born in Goiânia, Brazil, in 1977. He studied cinema at the University of São Paulo (USP) in São Paulo and at the Institut national de l’image et du son (L’inis) in Montreal. He edited dozens of shorts and features before directing his own films. His approach is based on observation and immersion in time. His documentaries, made between Brazil and Canada, where he has lived since 2010, invite the audience to contemplate the world differently, beyond appearances.
