At birth, the hospital shortened his given name, Thomas Atticus Christian, to TAC on his wristband. When he was a young boy growing up in California, he watched many movies and television shows and decided that acting was something that he wanted to do. His first big break was modeling for fashion designer Calvin Klein in advertisements with Kate Moss.
