Laura was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She is the daughter of Jack Delano, photographer, composer and artist, and Irene Delano, artist, and teacher, a power couple who were instrumental in the development of the arts in Puerto Rico from the 40s through the 80s. Laura completed a BS in vocal studies at Goucher College, and continuing education at Peabody Institute, Juilliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, HB Studios, and worked as an actress in NYC in the 80s and 90s.
