Gabrielle Provaas graduated in 1996 at the University of Amsterdam in Film and Television Studies, with minors in Art History and Psychology. Shortly afterwards she started working as a journalist for Dutch broadcaster VPRO. Since 2002 she has worked as a freelance journalist for various newspapers and magazines.
