Synopsis
A free screen adaptation of Part 1 of Old Stender's "High Wisdom from the World and Nature". The outskirts of the Duchy of Courland-Nemesgal, second half of the 18th century, serfdom not yet abolished. The pastor, writer and scientist Gotthard Friedrich Stender lives among superstitious Latvians, passionately trying to understand them, enlighten them and bring them to their senses.
