Synopsis
In 2024, Daniel Hutchings began screening his five feature-length art comedies, or Thingys, for the general public in Manchester to see if he could increase his audience numbers. Finding a home at The Eagle Inn in Salford, Hutchings documented who came to his Thingy events and what they thought of them. 'Year of The Thingy' captures the audience reactions, and the growing group of Thingy Fans, to all five of Daniel Hutchings' Thingys across the year. 'Year of The Thingy' is the about what happens when a filmmaker trying to make the world a happier place from the outskirts of the entertainment industry decided to turn the back room of a pub into a cinema.
